PEAKS and Potentials: summer camp for high-ability kids

April 17, 2011

MSU’s Office of Continuing Education is now accepting applications for Peaks & Potentials, their  summer camp for high-ability/high-potential students in grades 5-7 (in Fall 2011).

Peaks & Potentials gives students the opportunity to explore special topics of interest and work with experts in various subject areas.

Instructors are MSU faculty, graduate students and experienced professionals.   Academic, recreational and social activities offer students a chance to interact with their peers and to sample campus life.

Students have the option of staying on campus or commuting each day.

A recommendation from an appropriate school official is required for the student’s acceptance.  [Ed. Note: although the camp is billed as for high-ability/high-potential students, school officials are only signing off that the camp is “appropriate” for the student.  Hence, do not assume that all attendees are gifted.  However, it is great for gifted students to have close contact with scientific researchers.]
