Let’s Debate

May 1, 2011

Are you raising a potential debater?  Do you want to encourage your child to consider speech or debate?  Would you like your student to participate in a “sport” at Bozeman High School that consistently produces athletes who win scholarships to many of America’s great colleges and universities?

The Bozeman High speech and debate team, which has earned the right to represent Montana at the National Forensic League competition in Dallas this summer, is offering you a perfect chance to expose your child to the field.  On May 20th, the team will “showcase what students can do, from debating hot-button issues, to improvising a speech on the spot, to acting out characters with funny or heart-breaking stories to tell.”  It will be a night of fierce sparring with words and clever, entertaining discourse.

Friday, May 20, 2011 at 7:00 p.m., Willson Auditorium

Cost:  Free, but modest donations will help defray the costs of sending speakers and debaters to the national tournament to proudly represent Montana.

For more information about the speech and debate team, read the Bozeman Chronicle article by Gail Schontzler, “The Persuaders” or contact head coach James Maxwell.
