Lacking an Acceleration Policy?

November 28, 2011

If your school district does not have an academic acceleration policy…

  1. Use A Nation Deceived to convince people why your district needs to allow/enable acceleration.  (In my kid’s school district, we handed out copies to the school board during open forum.)
  2. For a subtle PR campaign, post and hand out posters from A Nation Deceived.
  3. Use Guidelines for Developing an Academic Acceleration Policy as a template to draft a policy…or to evaluate an existing policy.  You can download it free or order print copies.  The short version explains the types of acceleration, need for and research about acceleration, recommended elements of an acceleration policy, and a handy checklist for developing a policy.

Good luck!
