New Year’s Resolution: Find A Summer Camp

January 3, 2012

It may seem strange that I’m listening to the Rose Bowl and writing about summer camps, but let me give you three reasons:

  • For many gifted students, summer programs may be their only chance to socialize with other gifted kids who “get” their passion for a subject.  That social/emotional connection is important.
  • Some of the best summer programs for gifted kids have competitive or first-come-first-served admissions policies.  Some are already accepting applications for this summer; some will fill their rosters in the next month or two.
  • And, today, Montana AGATE has posted the application for their scholarships:  $200 to $400 to spend on the educational enrichment opportunity of the student’s choice.  Applications must be postmarked by March 3, 2012.

You can learn more about how to pick a summer program and search for some of the national and regional camps on our Enrichment page.  We’ve highlighted a few local and regional programs in last year’s articles which you can find by clicking on Enrichment-Summer Programs in the Search By Category box; keep checking back for more.  And feel free to send us your recommendations!
