Find Friends at Destination ImagiNation

September 29, 2013

At last week’s Gallatin Gifted Group meeting, we talked about the need for gifted kids to have opportunities to be with other gifted kids in order to find friends with similar interests.   Here’s a way to facilitate that…

Destination ImagiNationDestination ImagiNation is a fantastic program to help kids unleash their creativity.  It is usually done as a weekly after-school program with teams competing at the end of the year.  But sometimes it is difficult to get kids to sign up for “DI” and make a commitment to be part of team.  Here’s a chance to let your gifted kid “try on” Destination ImagiNation for just one evening, and see if he or she likes it before making a commitment.

Elementary students (K-5) will work to solve up to five Instant Challenges at “Creaturz Cache”:

  • 6:30 -9PM, Tuesday, October 15, at Lindley Park Center.
  • 6:30 -9PM, Thursday, October 10 at Saddle Peak Elementary

Middle school students (6-8) are invited for a night of “Zombie Apocalypse”:

  • 6:30 – 11PM, Wednesday, October 16, at Gallatin County Fairgrounds Building #1.
  • 6:30 – 11PM, Friday, October 11 at Belgrade Middle School

Each event is limited to 100 participants so register early.   (Registration deadlines are October 3 for Belgrade and October 8 for Bozeman.) For more information, download a flyer from the Montana DI website

Kids can register individually or you may want to pull together a team with other gifted kids.

DI is a program for all students that challenges them to work collaboratively to solve open ended challenges. Through this process they use creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills.  Destination ImagiNation ignites a lifetime of learning.
